You may have heard the word ‘superfood’ being thrown around a lot more. The field of nutrition is constantly changing and growing, and more people are learning about the importance of certain foods. One reason it is a good idea to eat more superfoods is they help boost your immune system so you do not get sick as often and reduce the need for homeopathic cold and flu relief. If superfoods are new to you, you may be wondering how to incorporate them into your diet. Fortunately, it is pretty easy.
What is a Superfood?
A superfood for cold & flu is one that contains high amounts of nutrients, which include vitamins, antioxidants, minerals, and other elements that support your body’s systems. A superfood is a whole food, which means it occurs naturally and is not processed at all. Everyone may have different examples of superfoods, but there are some that are commonly known:

- Dark green veggies – vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients

These are just some of the many foods that are high in nutrients. Keep in mind that organic varieties have higher levels of nutrients and are void of toxic pesticides and other chemicals.
Make One Change at a Time
If eating healthy is not something you currently do, but you want to make some changes, the best way is to start off slowly, so it is not overwhelming. Consider incorporating one new item every week or every few days. For example, trade your morning sugary cereal for eggs, which can be prepared a number of ways. Instead of eating candy for dessert, try fruit or yogurt topped with fruit and honey. Focus on having at least one vegetable and fruit at every meal to boost your health.
If the thought of consuming vegetables or other superfood is challenging, there are ways to sneak them into your diet. Smoothies are a great way to combine yogurt, fruit, and even spinach. Puree tomatoes and add them to soups or pasta sauces.
If you know how nutrient dense bone broth is, but you do not want to drink it straight like tea, use it as a base for soups. Soups are also a good way to incorporate a wide variety of vegetables, which you can cut up really small or puree. Soups are also a good way to fight colds and flu, along with natural flu medicine.
